Spotlight on Doug Lande   Doug Lande started on Palomar Mt. as a US Forest Service Forestry Technician/ Firefighter working at Oak Grove Fire Station in 1982. That summer he traveled once or twice a week with the crew to do timber thinning on Morgan Hill on Palomar. In 1983 he worked at the Palomar Station next to the Observatory.   He met his future wife Kathy Bates at a Volunteer Fire Dept. breakfast on Palomar at the Crestline lodge the same year. Doug became a proud cabin owner about 1985 with Kathy.   For the last several years Doug has been involved with the fire hazard reduction efforts around Palomar Mt. through the Forest Area Safety Task Force and the Palomar Mt.
